DEMSolutions EDEM 2.7 Final | 298.2 mb

DEM Solutions announces the release of EDEM 2.7. This release brings huge performance boost and numerous usability improvements.

EDEM 2.7 comes with a new and improved simulator engine that has been rewritten from the ground up to make better use of modern computer architecture and make numerous improvements and tweaks along the way. This brings a huge performance boost with simulations up to 70% quicker for all users. The scalability of EDEM on multi-core systems has also greatly improved for simulations using 8 cores or more.

New features of EDEM 2.7 include key usability improvements. Users working with conveyors in EDEM can make use of a new 'point and click' feature to define the direction of the belt easily and the built-in moving plane model can now do acceleration for start-up and shutdown situations. Setting up simulations in the EDEM Creator is also quicker and easier thanks to the addition of new copy buttons for geometry dynamics and particle sphere creation.

Post processing capabilities of the EDEM Analyst have also been enhanced, notably when it comes to Data Export. An option to display pressure and power on geometry has been added, providing key information for applications such as truck bodies, milling, or looking at pressure variation in a silo. In addition, users can now define an axis to obtain torque calculation directly without the need for additional post-processing in other programs. This was not possible previously when looking at an inclined axis such as in a screw auger. Additional improvements include the ability to copy queries as well as better readability of text overlaying Bins and Ruler and Protractor Tools.

Finally, EDEM 2.7 extends the capability of the EDEM Add-in for ANSYS Workbench - a tool introduced with the previous version of EDEM - that makes data from EDEM available in ANSYS Workbench where it can be linked to ANSYS Mechanical for Finite Element Analysis. The ANSYS Export tool in the EDEM Analyst now makes it possible to export data of moving parts for analysis, which is critical when looking at rotating, translating, and vibrating equipment, such as a truck body unloading material
