What's new in PerfectDisk 13? PerfectDisk 13 provides Windows 8.1 support, up to 20% faster optimization for HDDs and SSDs, increased flexbility with customized scheduling, and enhanced SSD recommendations and reporting.
Fragmentation Prevention with OptiWrite
PerfectDisk new OptiWrite technology prevents most fragmentation on your drive before it occurs, which prevents your system from slowing down. OptiWrite detects when Windows is going to fragment files and intelligently redirects I/O to stop the fragmentation from occuring. System performance is maintained and the need to utilize CPU and Disk I/O resources to defragment files is greatly reduced. Because less defragmentation is needed, there is a direct benefit in the form of energy saved in both CPU usage and in the reading and writing to a disk. It saves users both in energy costs and in the time required to defragment a file system.
Space Management
PerfectDisk new Space Management recovers disk space by detecting and removing duplicate files such as text documents, pictures, music, and videos. Recycler purges the Recycle bin and removes temporary files so that your drive remains clutter free. With Space Reports you can view a graphical and statistical report of file usage and allocation.
Intelligent Disk Optimization
For the limited fragmentation that can still occur, PerfectDisk patented SMARTPlacement optimization strategy optimizes disk drives according to your unique usage patterns. Perfectdisk provides resource throttling capabilities to manage resource usage as efficiently as possible. I/O throttling allows PerfectDisk to run on very busy disks without imposing additional load on the disk. CPU throttling allows you to raise or lower the CPU priority at which it runs. PerfectDisk uses very minimal CPU resources in its standard processing.
What's new in version 13.0 Build 843:
- Added the ability to detect files that are approaching the NTFS File Attribute List max size of 256KB and exclude them from defragmentation operations. Files that exceed this limit can not create additional file fragments - resulting in application or other errors. Note that this limit has nothing to do with the actual size of a file. This limit has to do with how badly fragmented the file is. If a file is badly fragmented and is approaching this limit, defragmenting the file could push it over the limit.
- Log Viewer sorting issue fixed.
- Changes made for PerfectDisk for vSphere to work with vSphere 6.0.
